File Sharing

A conversation window can be used to send and receive files of any file format.

Sending a file

To send a file to a buddy:

  1. Open a conversation with the buddy to whom your want to send a file by double-clicking his name on the buddy list.
  2. Click on the Send File icon to open your computer's default file browser.
  3. Browse to the file you want to send using the file browser and double click the file to send it.
  4. A message will appear in the conversation confirming that the file has been sent.

Receiving a file

If someone sends you a file, you will receive a message with a link to the file. You can click the link to download the file.

Note: You should only download and open files from a source that you trust!

File limitations

At this time, the following restrictions apply to files sent using Meebo Messenger:

  • A Meebo ID is required to use file sharing.
  • Meebo Messenger can send files to anyone over any network that allows file sharing. However, Meebo users cannot receive files from non-Meebo users.
  • Shared files expire 4 hours after being sent.
  • Shared files can be no larger than 10MB.
  • Users are limited to sending a total of 60MB of files per month.
  • Meebo does not allow sharing of certain file types, such as music files.
