Managing Conversations
The Meebo Conversation Window
A conversation window opens when you start a new conversation by double-clicking a buddy on the Buddy List or when someone sends you an IM message through any IM account connected to your Meebo ID. Conversation windows can be minimized, maximized, resized, and closed in a manner similar to a window on a desktop. There is no limit to the number of conversations you can have open at a time.
Each conversation window has a toolbar that can be used to access extended functionality for that conversation. The buttons available on the toolbar will vary slightly depending on which IM network is being used. Each window will show any or all of the following buttons:
Font Style
Click this button to change the font, size, and color of messages you type into the conversation window. These changes will be seen by buddies with whom you are having a conversation if they have a tool that supports font changes. Note that this will not change how you see the messages that buddies send to you - this is determined by font settings on their IM tool.
Emoticons
Click this button to insert an emoticon into your current conversation. This will insert a text string that corresponds to the selected Meebo emoticon. Note that if the buddy you are chatting with is not using Meebo, he may or may not see the emoticon you selected.
View Profile
Click this button to view the profile information for the buddy with whom you are chatting. This information will vary depending on what IM network you are using.
Request Video/Audio Chat
Click this button to ask the buddy with whom you are chatting to video/audio-chat. See Using Webcam and Voicechat for more information.
View Conversation History
Click this button to browse and search your conversation history with this buddy. You can view and search any conversation you've ever had using Meebo Messenger, whether on this computer, another computer, or even on the iPhone app. This icon also indicates whether conversation logging is currently enabled for this buddy. See Chat Logs for more information about browsing, searching, and enabling chat histories.
Send File
Click this button to launch your computer's default file browser and choose a file to send. You can share a file up to 10MB and up to a total of 60MB of files a month. See File Sharing for more information.
Group Chat
This button will only appear on chat windows for networks that support group chat (e.g. Windows Messenger, AIM, Yahoo!). Click this button to open a sidebar to the conversation window that shows all users currently in the chat. Click Invite buddy to open a searchable dropdown list of other buddies on the same IM network. Click one of these buddies or type in a buddy name to invite that buddy to chat.
Note: You can only create group chats between buddies who are all on the same IM network.
Games
Click this button to expand the conversation window to show a list of flash games that you can invite your buddy to play. Click a game to open it and challenge your friends! See Games for more information.
Pop Out
Click this button to open the conversation in a new browser window. This allows you to minimize the your main browser window while continuing the conversation in a smaller pop-out window that takes up less desktop space. A popped out chat window will have a Pop In button; click this button to pop the conversation back into the Meebo Messenger interface.
Note: Your browser must allow meebo.com to open pop-up windows for the pop-out feature to work.
Add Buddy
Click this button to add the person with whom you are having a conversation as a buddy. This button will only appear if this person is not already on your buddy list.
Block Buddy
Click this button to to block messages from the person with whom you are having a conversation. If you want to unblock them in the future, you can do so by adding them as a buddy (see Adding a Buddy. This button will only appear if this person is not already on your buddy list.
