Sending and Receiving Files and Photos

Sending Photos

You can use the iPhone/iPod touch app to send a photo from one of your existing photo albums or ou can take a picture from within your chat and instantly share it. To share a photo in either manner:

  1. Start a chat with a buddy.
  2. Tap the camera icon next to the chat input field. A menu pops up allowing you to choose how you want to share a photo. Choose from:
    • Take Photo - The iPhone's camera interface will open, allowing you to take a photo and immediately send it to your buddy. Note that any photos you take will not be saved. This option will not be available if you are using an iPod touch with no camera
    • Choose Existing - The photo browser will open, allowing you to look through your albums and select a photo to share. A pop-up notification will ask you to confirm the photo you wish to share.
The shared image appears in your conversation:

Receiving Files and Photos

If a buddy sends you a photo, it will appear in your chat just like any other message. You can tap the image to view a larger version of it and tap the icon in the lower left corner to save a copy of it in to your Saved Photos album.

If a buddy sends you a file that is not a recognized file format, you will see a message in the chat informing you that you have received a file, along with a link that allows you to open it. Tap the link to open the file.

Note:The iPhone can display any file supported by Apple as an email attachment. Only open files that you receive from a source that you trust.
