We're seeking a highly enthusiastic, self-motivated Senior Server Operations Engineer who will be a leader in the Server Operations team. You will need strong skills in implementing and managing high availability, mission critical infrastructure, and should be a dedicated problem solver who can multi-task and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced and demanding environment. You will work closely with other Server Operations Engineers and developers to help support a large-scale, growing web service that serves more than 175 million unique people a month. This is a full-time position with huge growth potential.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Hardware / OS performance analysis and tuning, enhancements and corrective actions
• Script development to automate processes and monitor system performance
• Planning of infrastructure changes and improvements
• Documentation of implementation processes and procedures
• Helping to manage multiple colocation facilities
• Staying up-to-date with competing technologies
• After-hours and on-call responsibilities as required or defined
• Some travel and weekend work will be required

The candidate must have:

• Experience with designing, implementing, configuring, administering, and troubleshooting mission-critical, 24x7x365, large-scale environments
• Experience of Linux system administration in an Internet facing, high volume, high growth environment. This would include installation, configuration, hardening, patching, tuning, and monitoring of Linux based systems
• 10+ years of Linux system administration including data center technical experience
• 5+ years of administering Apache and/or Nginx
• 3+ years of administering MySQL including ability to create and execute SQL queries and interpret the results
• Familiarity with open source tools such as Nagios, Cassandra, CouchDB a huge plus
• Fantastic communication skills
• Management and/or leadership experience a big plus

How you will succeed:

• Thrive in a team environment with strong verbal and written skills
• Demonstrate excellent troubleshooting skills (familiarity with tools like strace, pstack, tcpdump, etc.)
• Utilize strong networking skills with experience in the major TCP protocols (HTTP, SSH, SMTP, etc.)
• Apply excellent skills in at least one scripting language (PERL, Python, shell, etc.)
