The Director of Business Development is a highly motivated individual for the Business Development team who will be responsible for pursuing Tier 1 and 2 partnership and syndication opportunities online. This role requires an individual who can combine a solid understanding of the Social Networking landscape (including knowledge of the key drivers that sites are looking for) with creative selling skills to forge long-term deals with a variety of web publishing partners. Accountable by nature, the Business Development Director will have outstanding verbal and written communication skills, a drive to exceed established goals, and an ability to work closely with internal teams to get things done.
There is no "typical day" - but you will:
- Manage key content verticals that drive growth by syndicating the Meebo Bar
Support Meebo’s growth in category verticals through face to face meetings
- Pitch the benefits of the Meebo Bar to key executives at leading web publishing companies
Negotiate terms and create win-win lasting relationships with new partners
- Define content vertical strategy and ensure sustainable growth and client development
- Provide regular account updates to the business team
The ideal candidate has:
- 5-7+ years experience in the digital media industry with proven expertise working at or with web publishers.
Business development track record of selling strategic, innovative, high-value solutions, reaching and exceeding targets.
Ability to create and manage solid business development portfolio showing exceptional follow through and closing skills ultimately driving growth for the company.
- Have experience and an understanding of how to navigate large and complex partner organizations, working to gain access to key executives and stakeholders while successfully managing partnership dynamics/processes.
- An active listener. Strong and clear presentation, writing, and speaking skills. Articulate and concise speaker.
- Must have a “win-win” mentality along with creativity, tenacity, and the ability to close in a constructive manner.
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and staff to create a results-driven, team-oriented environment.
- Proven ability to learn and adapt to a fast-changing business development landscape while remaining focused on achieving core objectives.
- A strong passion for social media.
